Puffy Throat. 14"x 11" NJ Winter. Oil on canvas. As I was painting this I got the feeling of a bird puffing up his chest. Birds do this to attract mates and posture at other males indicating what their territories are. When I painted this I was feeling something of the opposite. I felt quite dreamy and disconnected that day. I spent a lot of time in thought and fantasy, and had quite a difficult time in conversation with others. This is one of those days I spend completely alone in the woods. I crave the sense of security of a bug under a rock. The weather though was not agreeable. Stormy water and wind...

Here are two paintings done in one evening session in my final residence in Santa Fe during the summer of '05. They are both acrylic on canvas. I was trying to bridge my drawing style with my painting style and this is what I came up with. When I view them, I allow my eyes to focus and unfocus on the positive and negative space. The images then begin to emerge.

This is the second of five in the couch bed/homeless series. I am receiving light deep in my bowels. My sense and understanding of security is coming to newer realizations both in my body and externally in my reality. Trust. I have all that I need. I have the power to create the reality that I need to sustain me.

Light Landing. 11"x14" oil on canvas. Solar truth is penetrating the density of my body. I painted this first in a series of 5. At the time I was couching it in a friend's place in Santa Fe. Light brings truth, though not without disturbing and overturning all that existed before it.

Devout. This painting represented a different style in expression. It is acryllic on canvas. The air was dry and so the paint was quite sticky and drying quickly. I begin to paint by dabbing with my brush which left an entirely new effect than any I had completed before. This dabbing effect has a softening quality and leaves a blurried line allowing more room for the eyes to play.. Eagle Prayer. and Loving Green Phallus..
$500

Kokopelli. Here is another Santa Fe piece.. There is a volcano at the bottom that looks like the lone welcoming butte as you enter Santa Fe. There is a lot of blue and black which reflects heavy water and emotional energy. After a while Kokopelli begins to appear. You can see a figure lined in white and black standing vertically in the center of the painting. He is bent, appearing true to his hunchback qualities with something in his hand... perhaps his flute or his phallus. Kokopelli has been associated with Pan, and in that light representing the exhuberant sensuality of life. In the upper left hand corner there is a hummingbird flying out of the sun or the yellow light of the solar plexus. Hummingbird indicates spirit and the sweetness of life.
